I'm sure many of you have seen the Dodge commercials touting their "invention" of the mini-van. As most of you know, that claim doesn't stand up. The first North American vehicle of this type was the 1961 Corvair 95 Greenbrier. I believe that Volkswagen introduced its Microbus in the 1950's - they probably deserve the credit for inventing the minivan. It's interesting that both early minivans were air-cooled, rear-engined, rear-wheel drive cars. |

I'm sure they're banking on the fact that few people, except car types, will remember that. If they're stating it, it must be true, like most media. That's the same reason there's so much mis-information out there about Corvairs....people with limited knowledge writing about something they know nothing about. |

For that matter, what about their claim that the Chrysler 300 series was the first "muscle car"? I wonder what criteria they use for that? I would think that some early 50's Olds "Rocket 88" would qualify for that term, also. |
